Why do we see a rainbow?

Rainbows form when sunlight passes through water droplets in the air. As the light enters the droplet, it bends (refracts), reflects off the inside of the droplet, and then bends again as it exits. Different colors bend by different amounts, splitting the white light into its seven colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
